Pewien biedny młynarz miał piękną córkę. Kiedyś poszedł porozmawiać z królem. Chciał pokazać, że jest kimś ważnym, więc powiedział: – Moja córka potrafi prząść złoto ze słomy.
A poor miller had a beautiful daughter. One day he went to speak with the king. He wanted to show that he was someone important, so he said: “My daughter can spin gold from straw.”
Twierdził więc, że jego córka umie robić ze słomy złote nici. Król bardzo chciał zobaczyć coś takiego.
So he claimed that his daughter could make golden thread from straw. The king very much wanted to see such a thing.
– Przyprowadź ją jutro do pałacu – powiedział. – Sprawdzę, czy naprawdę to potrafi.
“Bring her to the palace tomorrow,” he said. “I’ll see if she really can do it.”
