Pewien biedny młynarz miał piękną córkę. Pewnego dnia musiał udać się do króla na rozmowę. Chciał zrobić na nim wrażenie i uchodzić za kogoś ważnego, więc pochwalił się: – Moja córka potrafi prząść złoto ze słomy.
A poor miller had a beautiful daughter. One day, he had to go and speak to the king. He wanted to impress him and seem like someone important, so he boasted: “My daughter can spin gold from straw.”

– Taka sztuka bardzo mi się podoba – powiedział do młynarza. – Jeżeli twoja córka rzeczywiście jest tak zdolna, jak twierdzisz, przyprowadź ją jutro do mojego pałacu. Sprawdzę, co potrafi.
“I like that sort of skill very much,” he said to the miller. “If your daughter really is as talented as you claim, bring her to my palace tomorrow. I’ll see what she can do.”
