Jonah runs away to Tarshish

God spoke to Jonah, the son of Amittai.

“Go to Nineveh, the great city,” he told him. “Tell its people that I know how wicked they are.”

But Jonah did not want to go there. He wanted to get far away from God. So he went to Joppa and found a ship bound for Tarshish. He paid for his passage and boarded the ship.
