Un homme et sa femme désiraient un enfant depuis longtemps, sans que leur souhait se réalise. Enfin, la femme commençait à espérer que Dieu allait l’exaucer. À l’arrière de leur maison, une petite fenêtre donnait sur un magnifique jardin de fleurs et de plantes. Un haut mur en défendait l’accès : le jardin appartenait à une puissante enchanteresse que tous redoutaient.
English translation
A man and his wife had long wanted a child, but their wish had never come true. At last, the woman began to hope that God would grant it. At the back of their house, a small window looked out onto a magnificent garden full of flowers and plants. A tall wall kept people out: the garden belonged to a powerful enchantress whom everyone feared.
