Møllerens praleri

The miller's boast

English translation

Once upon a time there was a poor miller who had a beautiful daughter. One day, when he was to speak to the king, he wanted to impress him. So he said, “My daughter can spin straw into gold.”

English translation

“Now that’s a skill I like,” the king replied. “If your daughter is as skilled as you say, bring her to the castle tomorrow. Then we’ll see what she can do.”
