Møllerens skryt

The miller's boast

English translation

Once upon a time, there was a poor miller who had a beautiful daughter. One day he had to speak to the king, and to impress him, he made a bold claim: “My daughter can spin straw into gold.”

English translation

“That’s a skill I’d like to see,” replied the king. “If she really is as skilled as you say, bring her to the castle tomorrow. Then she can show me what she can do.”
