Jona vlucht naar Tarsis

Jonah runs away to Tarshish

English translation

God spoke to Jonah, the son of Amittai: “Get up and go to Nineveh, that great city. Warn the people there, because I know about their evil deeds.”

English translation

But Jonah wanted to flee from God. Instead of going to Nineveh, he set off for Joppa. There he found a ship that was going to sail to Tarshish. He paid for the passage and boarded the ship to travel with the crew to Tarshish, away from God.
