Iona fuge la Tarsis
Jonah runs away to Tarshish
English translation
God spoke to Jonah, son of Amittai, and gave him a command:
“Get up and go to Nineveh, that great city. Speak out against it, because I have seen how wicked its people are.”
English translation
Jonah got ready to leave, but set off in a different direction. He wanted to flee to Tarshish, far from God’s presence. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship headed for Tarshish. After paying his fare, he went aboard to leave with the crew. That was how he tried to get away from God.
