Jónás Tarsísba menekül

Jonah runs away to Tarshish

English translation

God spoke to Jonah, son of Amittai: “Go to Nineveh, that great city! Warn its inhabitants, for I see what wicked things they are doing!”

English translation

Jonah, however, set off in another direction: he wanted to flee from God to Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for Tarshish. He paid the fare, then boarded it to sail away with the crew. This was how he tried to escape from God.
