English translation
King Darius appointed one hundred and twenty governors to administer the different parts of his kingdom. Above them he placed three senior officials, including Daniel. The governors had to report their work to these three men so that the king would suffer no losses.

Daniele si distinse dagli altri funzionari e dai governatori per il suo spirito straordinario. Il re arrivò così a pensare di affidargli la guida dell'intero regno.
English translation
Daniel stood out from the other officials and governors because of his extraordinary spirit. The king came to think of entrusting him with the leadership of the entire kingdom.
