Darius plans to promote Daniel

Dárius király százhúsz helytartót nevezett ki, hogy a királyság tartományait irányítsák. Munkájukat három főtisztviselő felügyelte; egyikük Dániel volt. A helytartóknak előttük kellett beszámolniuk az ügyekről, hogy a királyt ne érje veszteség.

King Darius appointed 120 governors to administer the provinces of his kingdom. Three chief officials supervised their work; Daniel was one of them. The governors had to report to them on all matters so that the king would suffer no loss.

Dániel azonban kiemelkedett a többi főtisztviselő és helytartó közül: kivételes lélek lakott benne. A király ezért azt tervezte, hogy az egész birodalom irányítását rábízza.

But Daniel stood out among the other chief officials and governors: he had an exceptional spirit. So the king planned to put him in charge of the whole empire.
