English translation
King Darius appointed one hundred and twenty local governors to administer his kingdom. Above them, he placed three chief administrators, one of whom was Daniel. The governors had to report to them so that the king would suffer no losses.

English translation
Daniel stood out from the others because of his exceptional spirit. He excelled among both the administrators and the governors, and Darius began to consider the possibility of putting him in charge of the entire kingdom.
