English translation
King Darius appointed one hundred and twenty governors, each to rule a part of the kingdom. He put three high officials in charge of them, and Daniel was one of the three. The governors were to report to these officials so that the king would suffer no loss.

Daniel skilte seg ut blant både embetsmennene og guvernørene. Det var noe usedvanlig ved måten han tenkte og handlet på, og kongen vurderte derfor å la ham styre hele riket.
English translation
Daniel stood out among both the officials and the governors. There was something extraordinary about the way he thought and acted, so the king considered putting him in charge of the whole kingdom.
