English translation
King Darius chose one hundred and twenty governors to look after the different parts of the kingdom. He also chose three administrators to oversee their work. Daniel was one of these three men. The governors had to report to them on how they did their work, so the king would not suffer any losses.

English translation
Daniel did his work very well and stood out among the others. So the king thought about putting Daniel in charge of the whole kingdom.
