Król Dariusz wybrał stu dwudziestu urzędników, którzy mieli zarządzać różnymi częściami królestwa. Nad nimi postawił trzech przełożonych. Jednym z nich był Daniel. Urzędnicy mieli im mówić o swojej pracy, żeby król nie ponosił strat.
English translation
King Darius chose one hundred and twenty officials to govern different parts of the kingdom. He appointed three supervisors over them. Daniel was one of the supervisors. The officials were to report to them about their work so the king would not suffer any losses.

Daniel pracował lepiej niż pozostali przełożeni i urzędnicy, ponieważ miał w sobie niezwykłego ducha. Król chciał więc powierzyć mu zarządzanie całym królestwem.
English translation
Daniel worked better than the other supervisors and officials because he had an extraordinary spirit. So the king wanted to put him in charge of the whole kingdom.
