Scene 1 · Beginner
Far away, a king lived with his eleven sons and his daughter Elisa. The princes went to school with stars on their chests and swords at their sides. Elisa had a picture book that had cost as much as half a kingdom.
The children were happy until the king remarried. Their new stepmother did not like them. The day after the wedding, the children played at having guests. They used to get cakes and apples after a party. But the queen gave them a cup of sand and said they could pretend it was cake.
