Scene 1 · Intermediate
Long ago, there lived a king and queen who wanted nothing more than a child. Every day they said to each other, “Oh, if only we had a child!” Yet their wish was not granted.
One day, the queen was in the bath when a frog crawled out of the water onto dry land. It said to her, “Your wish will come true. Before a year has passed, you will have a daughter.”
