Scene 1 · Intermediate
Long ago, there lived a king and queen who wanted very much to have a child. Every day they said, “Oh, if only we had a baby!” Yet their wish had never come true.
One day, while the queen was bathing, a frog came out of the water and reached the shore. Then it said to her: “Your wish will come true: before a year has passed, you will have a daughter.”
