Scene 1 · Intermediate
Long ago, there lived a king and queen who longed for a child. “Oh, if only we had a child!” they said to each other day after day, but their wish never came true.
One day, while the queen was bathing, a frog crawled out of the water and came up to her. “Your wish will come true,” it said. “Before a year has passed, you will have a daughter.”
