A gonosz mostoha
The wicked stepmother

Far away, in the country where swallows migrate for the winter, there lived a king. He had eleven sons and a daughter named Eliza. The princes wore stars on their chests and went to school with swords at their sides. They wrote on golden tablets with diamond styluses, read with ease, and learned their lessons quickly. Everyone could see that they were royal children.

Eliza sat on a little stool made of mirrored glass, looking at her picture book. The book had cost half a kingdom. The siblings lived happily, but their happiness did not last forever: their father married an evil queen who did not love them at all.

She made them feel it the very next day after the wedding. There was a great celebration at the palace, and the children played at welcoming guests. Usually they were given the leftover cakes and apples, but this time their stepmother gave them only a cup of sand. She told them to imagine that it was cake.
