La lepre si vanta della sua velocità davanti agli altri animali. Dice che nessuno riesce a batterla quando corre più forte che può. Poi chiede chi vuole fare una gara con lei.
The hare boasts about her speed in front of the other animals. She says no one can beat her when she runs as fast as she can. Then she asks who wants to race her.
«Io voglio fare una gara con te», dice la tartaruga con calma.
“I want to race you,” the tortoise says calmly.
Per la lepre, la sfida è uno scherzo. È sicura di essere molto più veloce di lei.
To the hare, the challenge is a joke. She is sure she is much faster than the tortoise.
«Prima devi battermi, poi puoi vantarti», risponde la tartaruga. «Facciamo questa gara?»
“First you have to beat me, then you can boast,” the tortoise replies. “Shall we have this race?”
