Jesus og disiplene hans kom til et sted som het Getsemane. «Sett dere her mens jeg går litt lenger bort for å be», sa han til dem. Han tok med seg Peter og de to sønnene til Sebedeus. Sorgen og fortvilelsen tok tak i ham.
Jesus and his disciples came to a place called Gethsemane. “Sit here while I go a little farther to pray,” he told them. He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with him. Grief and despair took hold of him.
«Jeg er så tynget av sorg at det kjennes som om jeg skal dø», sa han til de tre. «Bli her og hold dere våkne sammen med meg.»
“I’m so weighed down with grief that I feel as though I’m going to die,” he told the three of them. “Stay here and stay awake with me.”
