Un soldat rentrait de la guerre. Il marchait sur la grande route, son sac sur le dos et son sabre au côté.
A soldier was returning from the war. He walked along the main road, his pack on his back and his sabre at his side.
Il a rencontré une vieille sorcière effrayante. Sa lèvre du bas descendait jusqu'à sa poitrine. Elle lui a promis autant d'argent qu'il voudrait.
He met a frightening old witch. Her lower lip hung down to her chest. She promised him as much money as he wanted.
Elle lui a montré un grand arbre creux. Il devait grimper jusqu'à un trou, puis descendre à l'intérieur de l'arbre. La sorcière lui attacherait une corde autour du corps pour pouvoir le remonter.
She showed him a large hollow tree. He had to climb up to a hole, then climb down inside the tree. The witch would tie a rope around his body so she could pull him back up.
