Pewnego dnia wieśniak poszedł do gniazda swojej gęsi i znalazł tam żółte, błyszczące jajko. Kiedy je podniósł, poczuł, że jest bardzo ciężkie. Chciał je wyrzucić, bo myślał, że to jakiś żart. Jednak po chwili postanowił zabrać jajko do domu.
English translation
One day, a farmer went to his goose’s nest and found a yellow, shiny egg there. When he picked it up, he felt that it was very heavy. He wanted to throw it away because he thought it was some kind of joke. However, after a while, he decided to take the egg home.

W domu odkrył, że jajko jest z samego złota. Bardzo się z tego ucieszył. Od tej pory każdego ranka znajdował w gnieździe nowe złote jajko. Sprzedawał te jajka i wkrótce stał się bogaty.
English translation
At home, he discovered that the egg was made entirely of gold. He was very happy about this. From then on, every morning he found a new golden egg in the nest. He sold the eggs and soon became rich.
