Egy nap egy gazda odament a lúdja fészkéhez. Egy sárga, csillogó tojást talált benne. Felvette, és érezte, hogy nagyon nehéz. Azt hitte, valaki meg akarja tréfálni, ezért majdnem eldobta. Aztán mégis úgy döntött, hogy hazaviszi.
English translation
One day, a farmer went over to his goose’s nest. He found a shiny yellow egg inside. He picked it up and felt that it was very heavy. He thought someone was trying to fool him, so he almost threw it away. But then he decided to take it home after all.

Hamarosan kiderült, hogy a tojás tiszta aranyból van. A gazda nagyon örült. Ezután minden reggel egy újabb aranytojást talált a fészekben. Eladta a tojásokat, és hamar meggazdagodott.
English translation
Soon it became clear that the egg was made of pure gold. The farmer was very happy. After that, he found another golden egg in the nest every morning. He sold the eggs and soon became rich.
