Eines Tages ging ein Bauer zum Nest seiner Gans. Dort fand er ein gelbes Ei, das glänzte. Als er es aufhob, merkte er, wie schwer es war. Zuerst wollte er es wegwerfen. Er glaubte, jemand machte einen Scherz mit ihm. Doch dann nahm er das Ei mit nach Hause.
English translation
One day, a farmer went to his goose’s nest. There he found a yellow egg that was shining. When he picked it up, he noticed how heavy it was. At first, he wanted to throw it away. He thought someone was playing a joke on him. But then he took the egg home.

Bald fand er heraus, dass das Ei aus reinem Gold war. Darüber freute er sich sehr. Jeden Morgen fand der Bauer wieder ein solches Ei. Er verkaufte die Eier und wurde bald reich.
English translation
Soon he discovered that the egg was made of pure gold. He was very happy about it. Every morning, the farmer found another egg like it. He sold the eggs and soon became rich.
