Soția unui om bogat s-a îmbolnăvit. Simțind că i se apropia sfârșitul, și-a chemat singura fiică lângă pat și i-a spus:
— Draga mea, fii bună și credincioasă. Atunci bunul Dumnezeu te va ocroti mereu, iar eu te voi privi din cer și îți voi fi aproape.
English translation
The wife of a rich man fell ill. Sensing that her end was near, she called her only daughter to her bedside and said:
“My dear, be kind and faithful. Then the good Lord will always protect you, and I will watch over you from heaven and stay close to you.”
Romanian
Apoi a închis ochii și a murit. Fata mergea în fiecare zi la mormântul mamei sale și plângea. În ciuda durerii, a rămas bună și credincioasă, așa cum îi ceruse mama.
English translation
Then she closed her eyes and died. The girl went to her mother’s grave every day and wept. Despite her grief, she remained kind and faithful, just as her mother had asked.

English translation
In winter, snow covered the grave like a white sheet. By the time the spring sun melted it, the girl’s father had married again.
