Den brogede kjortel
The coat of many colors
English translation
Jacob was also called Israel. He lived in Canaan, where his father had lived before him. His son Joseph was seventeen years old and looked after the sheep with his brothers. Joseph told their father something bad about his brothers.
English translation
Jacob was already old when Joseph was born. He loved Joseph more than his other children and made him a tunic. It was a garment of many colors. The brothers could see that Jacob loved Joseph more than he loved them. They hated Joseph and could not even speak kindly to him.
