Tunica multicoloră

The coat of many colors

English translation

Jacob, also called Israel, lived in the land of Canaan, where his father had also lived. His son Joseph was seventeen years old and cared for the flock with his brothers. Among them were the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, Jacob’s wives. Joseph told his father bad things about his brothers.

English translation

Jacob loved Joseph more than his other children because Joseph had been born when Jacob was old. He made him a tunic, a coat with many colors. His brothers saw that their father loved him more. Because of this, they hated him and could not speak kindly to him.
