De ondiepe schaal van de vos
The fox's shallow dish
English translation
The fox and the stork visited each other and seemed to be good friends. One day, the fox invited her to eat at his place. As a joke, he gave her only soup in a very shallow dish.
English translation
The fox could easily lap up the soup, but the stork could only dip the tip of her long beak into it. After the meal, she was just as hungry as before.
English translation
“I’m sorry you don’t like the soup,” said the fox.
English translation
“You don’t need to apologize,” replied the stork. “Come and eat at my place sometime soon.”
English translation
They agreed on which day the fox would come.
