The fox's shallow dish

English

The Fox and the Stork often visited each other and seemed to be good friends. One day, the Fox invited the Stork to dinner. He wanted to play a joke on her, so he served only soup in a very flat dish.

English

The Fox easily ate the soup with his tongue. But the Stork could only put the end of her long beak into it. She could not eat, so she was still hungry when the meal ended.

English

“I’m sorry you don’t like the soup,” said the Fox.

English

The Stork told him there was no need to say he was sorry. Then she invited him to dinner at her home, and they chose a day for his visit.
