Die flache Schale des Fuchses
The fox's shallow dish
English translation
The fox and the stork visit each other. They seem to be good friends. One day, the fox invites the stork over for a meal. As a joke, he gives her only some soup in a very shallow bowl.
English translation
The fox can easily lick up the soup with his tongue. But the stork has a long beak. Only the tip gets wet with soup. So she remains hungry.
English translation
“I’m sorry you don’t like the soup,” says the fox.
English translation
The stork tells him he doesn’t need to apologize. She hopes he’ll come visit her soon too and eat with her. The two agree on a day for the visit.
