Le plat peu profond du Renard

The fox's shallow dish

English translation

The Fox and the Stork visit each other often and seem to be good friends. One day, the Fox invites the Stork to dinner. To play a trick on her, he serves only soup in a very shallow dish. He can easily lap it up with his tongue.

English translation

But the Stork can dip only the tip of her long beak into the soup. So she is just as hungry as she was before the meal.

English translation

“I’m sorry you don’t like my soup,” says the Fox.

English translation

The Stork doesn’t complain. She invites him to dinner in turn, and they choose a date.
