A róka lapos tálja
The fox's shallow dish
English translation
The fox and the stork visited each other for a while and seemed to be good friends. One day, the fox invited the stork to dinner. He wanted to play a trick on the stork, so he gave him a little soup in a very flat dish.
Hungarian
A róka könnyen felnyalta a levest. A gólya azonban csak hosszú csőrének a végét tudta a levesbe tenni. Nem tudott enni, ezért éhes maradt.
English translation
The fox lapped up the soup easily. But the stork could only dip the tip of his long beak into it. He couldn’t eat, so he stayed hungry.
Hungarian
– Sajnálom, hogy nem ízlik önnek a leves – mondta a róka.
English translation
“I’m sorry you don’t like the soup,” said the fox.
Hungarian
– Nem kell bocsánatot kérnie – felelte a gólya. – Remélem, hamarosan ön is eljön hozzám vacsorára.
English translation
“You don’t need to apologize,” replied the stork. “I hope you’ll come to my place for dinner soon, too.”
Hungarian
Megbeszélték, hogy melyik napon látogatja meg a róka a gólyát.
English translation
They agreed on which day the fox would visit the stork.
