Scene 1 · Beginner
Płytki talerz lisa
The fox's shallow dish
English translation
The Fox and the Stork visited each other and seemed to be good friends. One day, the Fox invited the Stork to lunch. As a joke, he served her only soup on a very shallow plate.
English translation
The Fox could easily eat soup from such a plate. But the Stork had a long beak. She could dip only its tip into the soup, so she ate nothing. After lunch, she was just as hungry as before.
English translation
“I’m sorry you don’t like the soup,” said the Fox.
English translation
“Don’t apologize,” the Stork replied. “I hope you’ll come to my place for lunch soon.”
Polish
Ustalili więc dzień, w którym Lis miał ją odwiedzić.
English translation
So they agreed on a day when the Fox would visit her.
