Ver weg in de oceaan was het water blauw en helder. Het was er zo diep dat zelfs een stapel kerktorens niet tot boven het water zou komen. Daar woonden de zeekoning en zijn volk.
Far away in the ocean, the water was blue and clear. It was so deep that even a stack of church towers would not reach the surface. The Sea King and his people lived there.
Op de zeebodem groeiden mooie bloemen en planten. Hun bladeren bewogen met het water mee en overal zwommen vissen tussen de takken. Op de diepste plek stond het kasteel van de zeekoning. Het had muren van koraal en heldere, gele ramen. Het dak bestond uit schelpen die met de beweging van het water open en dicht gingen.
Beautiful flowers and plants grew on the seabed. Their leaves moved with the water, and fish swam everywhere among the branches. The Sea King’s castle stood in the deepest place. It had coral walls and bright yellow windows. The roof was made of shells that opened and closed with the movement of the water.
In elke schelp lag een prachtige parel.
