Scene 1 · Beginner

Une fourmi affairée en été

A busy ant in summer

English translation

One summer day, a cicada was hopping and singing happily in a field. An ant passed by. She was struggling to carry an ear of grain toward the ants’ home.

French

English translation

“Come and chat with me,” the cicada suggested. “Why work so hard?”

French

English translation

“I’m helping put food aside for the winter. You should put some aside too.”

English translation

The cicada saw no reason to worry: food was plentiful for the moment. Even so, the ant continued on her way and kept working.
