Pewnego dnia latem konik polny skakał po polu i śpiewał. Obok szła mrówka. Niosła z trudem kłos zboża do mrowiska, gdzie mieszkały mrówki.
One summer day, a grasshopper hopped around a field and sang. An ant was walking nearby. She was carrying an ear of grain with difficulty to the anthill, where the ants lived.
– Może porozmawiasz ze mną zamiast tak ciężko pracować? – zapytał konik polny.
“Maybe you could talk with me instead of working so hard?” the grasshopper asked.
– Pomagam zbierać jedzenie na zimę. Ty też powinieneś to robić – odpowiedziała mrówka.
“I’m helping collect food for the winter. You should do that too,” the ant replied.
Konik polny nie chciał martwić się zimą, bo teraz jedzenia było bardzo dużo. Mrówka jednak poszła dalej i nadal ciężko pracowała.
The grasshopper did not want to worry about winter, because there was plenty of food now. But the ant went on and continued working hard.
