Pe vremuri, când dorințele încă se împlineau, trăia un rege cu mai multe fiice. Toate erau frumoase, dar cea mai mică era cea mai frumoasă.
Once upon a time, when wishes still came true, there lived a king who had several daughters. They were all beautiful, but the youngest was the most beautiful.
Lângă castel era o pădure mare și întunecoasă. Acolo, sub un tei bătrân, se afla o fântână. În zilele foarte calde, prințesa mergea în pădure și stătea lângă apa răcoroasă. Când se plictisea, se juca cu mingea ei de aur. O arunca în aer și o prindea. Era jucăria ei preferată.
Near the castle was a large, dark forest. There, under an old linden tree, stood a well. On very hot days, the princess went into the forest and sat beside the cool water. When she got bored, she played with her golden ball. She tossed it into the air and caught it. It was her favorite toy.
