El deseo de tener un hijo

A wish for a child

English translation

A woman longed with all her heart to have a little child, but she couldn’t make her wish come true. At last, she went to a fairy.

Spanish

«Me gustaría tanto tener un hijo... ¿Podría decirme dónde encontrar uno?», preguntó.

English translation

“I would so love to have a child... Could you tell me where to find one?” she asked.

English translation

“There’s a simple solution to that,” the fairy replied. “Take this barley grain. It isn’t like the ones that grow in the fields and the hens eat. Plant it in a flowerpot and see what happens.”

English translation

The woman thanked her and paid the twelve shillings the special seed cost.
