Scene 1 · Beginner
Den etbenede tinsoldat
The one-legged tin soldier
English translation
A little boy got twenty-five tin soldiers for his birthday. “Tin soldiers!” he shouted, clapping his hands when he saw them in the box. He lined them up on the table.
English translation
The soldiers were brothers because they were made from the same old tin spoon. They wore red and blue uniforms, and each soldier carried a rifle over his shoulder. They all looked alike except for the last one. When he was made, there was only enough tin for one leg. Even so, he stood steadily on his one leg.
