Den enbente tennsoldaten

The one-legged tin soldier

English translation

A little boy received a box of twenty-five tin soldiers as a birthday present. When he opened the box, he cried happily, “Tin soldiers!” Then he stood them up on the table. They all wore red and blue uniforms and carried their rifles on their shoulders. The soldiers were brothers, for they were all made from the same old tin spoon.

English translation

One of the soldiers had only one leg. He was made last, and there was not enough tin left for another leg. Even so, he stood steady.
