Scene 1 · Beginner
A féllábú ólomkatona
The one-legged tin soldier
Hungarian
Egy kisfiú huszonöt ólomkatonát kapott a születésnapjára. Mind ugyanabból a régi ónkanálból készültek, ezért testvérek voltak. Piros-kék egyenruhát viseltek, és a vállukon tartották a puskájukat.
English translation
A little boy got twenty-five lead soldiers for his birthday. They were all made from the same old tin spoon, so they were brothers. They wore red-and-blue uniforms and carried their rifles on their shoulders.
Hungarian
Amikor kinyitották a dobozukat, a kisfiú örömében összecsapta a kezét.
English translation
When their box was opened, the little boy clapped his hands with joy.
Hungarian
– Ólomkatonák! – kiáltotta.
English translation
“Lead soldiers!” he cried.
English translation
That was the first word the soldiers heard. The boy lined them up on the table. They all looked alike, but one of them had only one leg. He was made last, and there wasn’t enough tin left for his other leg. Even so, he stood firmly on his one leg.
