El soldadito de una sola pierna
The one-legged tin soldier
English translation
Once upon a time, there were twenty-five tin soldiers. They were all brothers because they had been made from the metal of the same old spoon. They wore red and blue uniforms and held their weapons on their shoulders.
English translation
A boy received them as a birthday present. When the box was opened, he clapped and put them on a table. They were all alike except for the last one. That little soldier was missing a leg because there hadn’t been enough metal to finish him. Even so, he could stand very firmly on his other leg.
