Scene 1 · Beginner

De keizer houdt van nieuwe kleren

The emperor loves new clothes

English translation

Long ago, there lived an emperor who was crazy about new clothes. He spent all his money on them. He was not interested in his soldiers or the theater. He only wanted to ride through the city in his carriage and show off his new clothes.

English translation

He had a different coat for every hour of the day. He spent so much time in his dressing room that people said, “The emperor is in his dressing room.”
