Scene 1 · Beginner

Împăratul iubește hainele noi

The emperor loves new clothes

English translation

Many years ago, there lived an emperor who loved new clothes very much. He spent all his money on them because he wanted to be well dressed at all times. He took no interest in his soldiers and did not like going to the theater. But he liked going out in his carriage to show people a new outfit.

English translation

He had different clothes for every hour of the day and spent a lot of time in the dressing room. When someone came looking for him, people often said, “The Emperor is in the dressing room.”
