Scene 1 · Beginner

Cesarz kocha nowe stroje

The emperor loves new clothes

English translation

Long ago, there lived an emperor who loved new clothes. He spent all his money on them because what mattered most to him was looking good. He wasn’t interested in soldiers or the theater. Instead, he liked riding in his carriage and showing people his new outfits.

English translation

For every hour of the day, he had a different frock coat, a long jacket. He changed clothes so often that people would say: “The Emperor is in his dressing room.”
