La tunique aux multiples couleurs
The coat of many colors
English translation
Jacob, also called Israel, lived in Canaan, where his father had stayed. His seventeen-year-old son Joseph tended the flocks with his brothers, including the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, Jacob’s wives. He brought their father an unfavorable report about them.
English translation
Israel favored Joseph over his other children because he was the son of his old age. He had a many-colored tunic made for him. His brothers saw this favoritism, hated him, and could not speak a friendly word to him.
