La túnica de muchos colores

The coat of many colors

English translation

Jacob, also called Israel, lived in Canaan, the land where his father had lived. His son Joseph was seventeen and tended the flocks with his brothers, including the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, Jacob’s wives. Joseph brought his father bad reports about them.

English translation

Israel loved Joseph more than his other sons because he had fathered him in his old age. He made him a many-colored robe. His brothers understood this favoritism and came to hate him so much that they could not speak a kind word to him.
