English translation
Jacob, who was also called Israel, lived in the land of Canaan, where his father had lived before him. His son Joseph, who was seventeen, tended the flock with his brothers. Among them were the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, Jacob’s wives. Joseph brought their father bad reports about them.
Hungarian
Izrael minden gyermekénél jobban szerette Józsefet, mert a fiú akkor született, amikor az apja már idős volt. Tarka köntöst is készített neki. A testvérek észrevették apjuk különös szeretetét, és emiatt meggyűlölték Józsefet. Már békésen beszélni sem tudtak vele.
English translation
Israel loved Joseph more than all his other children because he had been born when his father was already old. He also made Joseph a colorful robe. The brothers noticed their father’s special love for him, and they hated Joseph because of it. They could no longer speak to him peacefully.
